Home MLRA's Range Sites

Our mission has become increasingly broad in scope and we work closely with researchers and producers across the United States and around the world.  However, the table and interactive (clickable) map below illustrates the Major Land Resource Areas (MLRA's) in the area traditionally served by the Southern Plains Range Research Station. Clicking on an area of the map will link to descriptions of the MLRA's in the Southern Plains.  The MLRA's fall into the Land Resource Regions (LRR's) of H and part of J.  Clicking on the map or links below will display the definitions of the MLRA's. The USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is responsible for developing the definitions of the LRR's and MLRA's.

The an interactive map showing the most recent boundaries of LRR's and MLRA's can be found at the National Soil Survey Center web site.  In many cases new subdivisions of existing MLRA's are being created.

The Button labeled "Range Sites" above links to descriptions of range site types in western Oklahoma as defined by the NRCS.
